Biked 90km (56 miles) from Imabari to Onomichi, along the incredibly beautiful Shimanami Kaido cycling route. Tomoko Sagara flew in from Tokyo to ride with us for the day. It was the longest she'd ever ridden a bike, and she did great! Also, Saito-san, our friend we met in Hokkaido 6 weeks ago, caught up with us, and we rode together all day.

Charlie, I object! The sign post I saw at Imabari Sunrise Itoyama (the starting point) said: "89.9km to Onomichi" !!!

And we even went an extra 8km or so after we took that wrong turn. I guess I was being too modest :-). I'll edit the post to give you credit for a full 90km of riding!
ReplyDeleteI love the Shimanami Kaido! I've ridden it twice with a 5 year old in the child seat -- whew! ;) Your and Sho's journey is definitely an inspiration and I hope to take my son (now 8) on a tour of Europe soon!
